NYPACE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that stimulates job creation and economic opportunity in underserved communities by mobilizing pro bono professionals to support local entrepreneurs through an extensive network of volunteer advisors from many of the nation’s leading professional firms. NYPACE supports underserved entrepreneurs with pro bono services that would otherwise be unaffordable, while providing volunteers with a structured, curated channel for giving back. Why should I become an NYPACE Volunteer Advisor?

If you want to use the skills you use in your job to help an entrepreneur achieve their dreams, meet like-minded individuals who are working to build equity in the entrepreneur ecosystem, build your resume with pro bono experience in a new or similar industry, and network with other professionals in the city this is the place for you!

What makes NYPACE different from other accelerator programs?

NYPACE prioritizes minority, women or veteran-owned businesses. This summer, we had our first all-female cohort! We are a unique program because our pro bono projects are highly bespoke, fast paced and high impact. Our entrepreneurs are referred to us by program partners and go through a rigorous application process in order to meet you. You’ll work with other advisors from NYC over eight weeks to complete a deliverable for an entrepreneur in need of your skills.

What makes a good volunteer advisor?

The right candidate is comfortable with ambiguity and wants to make an immediate impact in their local, small business community. We need someone who knows how to ask good questions and has a high EQ. The advisor should have strong research skills and be able to commit 2-4 hours a week for 8 weeks. We are looking for experts in at least one of the following skills: Finance & Budget, Marketing & Communications, Business Development, Strategic Planning & Analysis, and/or Operations & HR. Our advisors know that the best teams work because the people trust each other and should identify with the messages in this video. Above all, our advisors love supporting small businesses.
