NYPACE Board of Directors

Dan Zamlong - Board President
Dan Zamlong's involvement with NYPACE dates back to 2002 when he pioneered NYPACE's relationship with Project Enterprise. He is currently the President of the organization. In addition to his contributions to NYPACE, Dan is also on the board of the New York Private Equity Network (NYPEN). Dan works full time at Warburg Pincus LLC, a private equity firm. Prior to joining Warburg Pincus, Dan worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions group of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and the Technology M&A group of Credit Suisse First Boston. Dan received a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Dan Cohn-Sfetcu
Dan joined the NYPACE board in the summer of 2013. He has helped with advisor recruitment and fundraising efforts. Dan is a Principal at American Capital Ltd, focused on supporting middle-market private equity sponsors with mezzanine, 2nd lien and unitranche debt investments. Prior to joining American Capital, Dan co-founded Brookstone Partners, a middle-market private equity firm, and previously held various roles in investment banking at RBC Capital Markets and SG Cowen. Dan received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen’s University.

Adam Goodman
Adam joined the operating team during 2010 and has focused on advisory and project management. Adam currently works in alternative investments at MetLife with a focus on mezzanine debt. Prior to joining MetLife, Adam worked at Allied Capital as an investment professional and in the Global Industrial & Services group in investment banking at Credit Suisse First Boston. Adam received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Accounting from Wake Forest University and a MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Benjamin Hamlin
Ben joined NYPACE in 2009 as a project advisor and was elected to the board in 2010. Since 2010, he has led the entrepreneur recruiting effort. Ben is currently an MBA Candidate at the Berkeley-Haas School of Business. Prior to business school, he worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the Equity Capital Markets division. Ben holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Claremont McKenna College.

Nick Hurley
Nick joined NYPACE in 2008 as a project advisor and was elected to the operating team in 2009 where he helps manage our advisory projects. He is currently pursuing his MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business. Prior to business school, Nick worked in middle market private equity at Allied Capital. Prior to joining Allied, Nick worked as an investment banker at Citigroup and as a strategy consultant at KPMG. He received his BA from Boston College where he studied Philosophy and American Studies.

Jonathan Ketzner
Jonathan joined NYPACE in 2008 as a project advisor and was elected to the operating team in 2009 to help lead the advisor recruiting program. Jonathan currently works as an investment banker for Janney Montgomery Scott in Philadephia. He previously worked in Corporate Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions at Citigroup. Jonathan received a Masters of Arts in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies.

Russell Leaf
Russell’s involvement with NYPACE started in 2012. Russell is a partner at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, an international law firm, where he focuses on private equity and mergers and acquisitions.  Russell received a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from University of Maryland at College Park and his JD from St. John’s University School of Law.

Philippe Leroy
Philippe's involvement with NYPACE dates back to 2010 when he participated to an advisory project in the decorative space. Philippe is a partner at Ernst & Young where he focuses on transactions for corporate and private equity clients. Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Philippe worked for Andersen in the US and France and performed financial audits of consumer and industrial product multinationals. Philippe received a Master in Economics and Finance from the University Paris Dauphine.

Teresa Martin-Retortillo
Teresa joined the NYPACE board in the summer of 2013. She has helped with advisor recruiting efforts and is leading NYPACE’s value proposition task force. Teresa is a Partner at Bain & Company, focused on consumer products and retail sectors. She is active in the non-profit sector with a few other organizations. Teresa received a BA from CUNEF (Madrid, Spain) and an MBA from Harvard University.

Keith Motelson
Keith joined NYPACE in late 2008 and has helped lead our entrepreneur recruiting efforts and manage our relationships with microfinance organizations. He currently works full time at Warburg Pincus LLC, a private equity firm. Previously, he worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions group at JPMorgan. Keith received a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University.

Lev Slootsky
Lev became involved with NYPACE in 2009 as an advisor on a project in the parent training industry. He joined the Board of Directors in 2011 and currently leads the advisor recruiting committee. Lev is a vice president at Goldman Sachs Investment Partners where he manages investments for multiple funds managed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management. He serves on the Boards of Directors of several portfolio companies and non-profit organizations. Lev earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he was a George E. Doty Fellow. He holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees from Cornell University where he was a Philip Merrill Presidential Scholar.

Jeffrey Smith

Jeff joined the NYPACE board in 2014 and has been involved with the organization since 2011.  He is a member of the Marketing Committee where he has helped sharpen NYPACE’s online presence, social media strategy and contributed to broader media and public relations efforts. Jeff is Founder and President of JVS Advisors, a strategic communications firm in New York. He has more than 14 years of professional communications experience, most recently as Director of Communications at Warburg Pincus, a global private equity firm. Previously, he was a communications advisor at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C. Jeff received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Villanova University, a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Arts in Political Science both from American University.
